Communication & Information Specialist of UNESCO Myanmar Office
He is president (on-leave) of the Manila-based Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC). He is the chairman of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Committee for Communication. He was appointed by President Benigno S. Aquino III as member of the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (2011-2013).
Mr. Tuazon is a member of the UNESCO International Expert Group in Media and Information Literacy and co-author of the recently published UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Curriculum for Teachers (UNESCO, 2011). He has conducted MIL workshops in several countries including Ethiopia (for Eastern African countries), Morocco (for Arab countries), Indonesia, and Timor Leste. As UNESCO Consultant in Paris in 2005, he coordinated the preparation of the UNESCO Model Curricula for Journalism Education.
He was consultant/project manager to over 25 communication programs supported by multilateral and bilateral agencies including the World Bank, ADB, and various UN agencies. He co-authored and co-edited several publications on journalism and communication. He teaches at several communication schools in the Philippines.
Mr. Tuazon completed his Master in Communication Management from the AIJC and Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the University of Santo Tomas where he also took graduate work in advertising.
