2012 Conference

Over 200 stakeholders – including previously exiled media – were brought together for the first time in Yangon for a two-day workshop (from 19-20 March 2012) to openly discuss media rights and freedom and setting an agenda for media development in Myanmar.

The conference has been hailed as a gate-opener to policy dialogue on freedom of expression and role of media in Myanmar. The conference highlighted key challenges and underlined the complexity of factors and issues that must be addressed to move forward on the media sector as a whole.

The 2012 Conference was organized by the Ministry of Information and UNESCO, in partnership with International Media Support and Canal France International.
